I have always longed to return to Valparáiso, Chile, South America just to see the how the colours have changed and to see if the artwork is renewed on the walls. The streets of Valparáiso provide a canvas for all sorts of artists as well as home painters, who prefer to use bright colours for external walls. I imagine the walls are always in transition. Steep streets rise up above the busy port, the hilly suburbs accessed via ancient, vertical tram cars or ascensori, which take you from one level to the next. If you walk, goat like, to the upper reaches, you will be rewarded with more colourful views.
Wow, lovely!

Amazing street art. I really enjoy seeing how the street art changes over time and from city to city. Thank you Francesca.

I love Chile and would love to return there also. Great to see a painting of Salvador Allende amongst all the street art in Valparaiso.

Beautiful street art (at least the first as I could not get the Javascript slide show to work). Love the shades of yellow on the faces. The link to “transition” very interesting, especially the quote by Heraclitus – he who also said one could never step in the same stream twice – i.e. Valparáiso and its street art constantly in transition.

One must give credit to the citizens of Valporaiso. Together they’ve created a one-of-a-kind city and a beautiful one, at that.

It is such a beautiful town as is Santiago. I am a big fan of Neruda’s poesia and also his houses! And also have a fine CD album of Nano Stern, a great singer from Chile. Thanks for dropping in.
