Mischievous, the travel theme chosen by Ailsa this week, brings to mind all things playful, destructive, artful, roguish and frolicsome. The graffiti lanes of Melbourne provide artistic examples of mischievous work. Melbourne City Council supports this work, particularly in the lanes, but not on grander edifices. Street art is now desirable in many inner suburbs. Some of the best art can be seen along the bike track parallel to the Upfield Railway line in Brunswick. Businesses, private home and apartment owners commission the best graffiti artists to decorate their plain walls.
A tour of the Melbourne Graffiti lanes wouldn’t be so much fun without the company and energy of a couple of mischievous boys.

Yes there’s some fab grafitti around inner Melbourne. A friend who lives on laneway commissioned a work for her entrance. Stops the taggers spraying their mischief. Love your mischievious grandsons!

I can’t stand taggers either. The wall art deters them for a while, although I noticed a couple of tags on the fab Royal Nut company’s walls over that masterpiece. You think they would respect street artists.

Good work Fran. I’m glad these people can express their talent more freely. I am particularly fond of stencils. I still can’t come to terms with tagging. It is just ugly and a depiction of laziness.

stencil art is becoming rather popular and is very delicate. No one likes tags!

A friend just put up an amazing Melbourne graffiti piece on her Instagram. It was stunning I stared at it for a minute trying to see whether it was real or not hehe.

Love the street art. I am certain the artists could make a living by using a canvas as well.

Cute post. I really enjoy graffiti art, and the boys’ faces echo the sentiment perfectly. Tried to post this comment days ago but someone out in the ethers was preventing it. x
